About us
Stellenbosch Optometrist has grown from a small practice in a shopping mall to a massive 220sqm shopping destination in the Memorylane building in Stellenbosch. We are now located on the Corner of Dorp and Piet Retief Street in the Stellenbosch CBD.
The vision of the practice is to provide every patient with personalised attention, professional diagnosis and advice, especially in the fitting and suitability of frames for the client’s personality and features. Stellenbosch Optometrist’s aim is to improve the sight of all their clients and thus positively impact their quality of life.

PHOTOCHROMIC LENSES:
Photochromic lenses are spectacle lenses that are clear indoors and darken automatically when exposed to sunlight. The molecules responsible for causing them to darken are activated by the sun's ultraviolet radiation. Because UV rays penetrate clouds, photochromic lenses will darken on overcast days as well as sunny days.
Photochromic lenses typically will not darken inside a vehicle because your windshield blocks most UV rays. They are ideal for people spending a lot of their day outdoors, because they will lighten indoors and you therefore only need one pair of spectacles.
POLARISED LENSES:
Polarized sunglasses lenses have a special filter that blocks intense reflected light from the sun, reducing glare and discomfort. At Stellenbosch Optometrist we have polarised lenses in all of our sunglasses ranges with Maui Jim being the most popular choice.
